Many Americans think of the 50's vintage
cars in perfect condition when Cuba is mentioned. These cars
look like the originals, but have few
of the original parts. The Cubans have been incredibly creative
maintaining these cars; fashioning many
parts by hand since few genuine parts are availble to them.
Vehicles being used as cabs frequently
have diesel engines
because diesel fuel is approximately half
the price of gasoline.
The Russian Lada is a car frequently seen
on Havana Streets as is the equally attractive Muscovitch.
Out for a cruise.
